The Very Quiet Cricket Hardcover Book by Eric Carle | Preschool Self-Discovery Story

Bring a gentle, meaningful story into your early childhood classroom with The Very Quiet Cricket by beloved author and illustrator Eric Carle. This beautifully illustrated 32-page hardcover book tells the story of a tiny cricket who hatches into the world and begins a journey of self-discovery. Along the way, he encounters a variety of other insects—from a spunky locust to a friendly praying mantis—but no matter how hard he tries, he cannot make a sound. It isn't until he meets another cricket just like him that he finally finds his voice, delivering a powerful message about connection, identity, and belonging.

Perfect for children ages 2 and up, this book offers early educators an opportunity to spark rich classroom conversations about feelings, friendship, and growing up. Eric Carle's signature collage-style illustrations engage young readers while supporting visual literacy and storytelling skills.
