These fanciful masks are inspired by the classic plays of William Shakespeare! Fashioned in the Elizabethan, Venetian and Carnival styles of Shakespearean literature, these sturdy cardstock masks will serve as inspiration for writing your own plays and acting them out. Decorate and embellish the masks with paint, markers or a wide array of collage materials.
The cardstock is way sturdier than I expected for something meant to be decorated. I set these out at my kid's birthday party and the Venetian-style ones got painted and glittered for a solid hour without buckling.
Bought these for a Shakespeare unit with my eighth graders and they held up way better than the flimsy ones I've tried before. The Venetian and Elizabethan shapes gave the kids plenty of variety to pick from, and the blank surfaces took markers and glitter glue without warping.
Bought these for a Shakespeare unit with my students and the Elizabethan styles were a hit—the eye holes are actually cut cleanly, which is rare with cheaper masks. We decorated them with markers and feathers and they held up fine.
