Delightful cumulative rhyme leads up to the consequences of piling too many sleepy people and animals in a cozy bed. Don Wood's paintings endow Audrey s familiar plot with beauty and newness, conveying atmosphere as well as illustrating the story.

The cumulative rhyme makes bedtime reading so much fun, and the kids giggle every time the flea joins the pile. The illustrations are beautifully detailed, giving us something new to notice with each reading.

My toddler loves pointing at all the animals piling into the bed, and the cumulative rhyme makes it so easy for her to "read" along with me. The illustrations by Don Wood are absolutely gorgeous—they somehow make the familiar story feel fresh and new every time.
